Dom Flemons

Known as “The American Songster”™ for his extensive, eclectic repertoire covering over 100 years of early American popular music, Dom Flemons is considered an expert player on the banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, percussion, quills, fife and rhythm bones. A co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, he embarked on a solo career in 2014. He’s been busy with a wide range of projects since, most recently with 2018’s Grammy-nominated Dom Flemons Presents Black Cowboys, on Smithsonian Folkways, and 2020’s Prospect Hill: The American Songster Omnibus. He currently serves as a Governor on the Board of Directors for the Washington, D.C Chapter of the Recording Academy.
